We are seeking Chefs (x1) to join our busy team in Te Kauwhata. This is a full-time role (minimum of 30 hours a week, no more than 45 hours per week).

The role:

Day-to-day work may include, but not limited to:

  • To prepare and cook quality cuisine dishes to high quality standards and ensure that they are served to customers on time. 

  •  To freeze and preserve foods 

  • To maintain a working knowledge of all recipes, products and production procedures as required by the employer 

  • To plan and update menu, including introducing and merging some Asian style cuisine ideas to the menu.  

  • To organize the food and kitchen requirements and manage costs 

  • To ensure there are adequate stocks of food stuffs and to order food supplies. 

  • To ensure established standards of food safety and sanitation are maintained. 

  • To ensure the cafe’s cleanliness is to a high standard at all the time. 

  • To have ability to communicate with the employer and the other kitchen staff

  • To train new staff

To be successful in this role, you are required to have:

  • A relevant NZ certificate level 4 or higher qualification, or

  • 2 years relevant work experience 

  • Works well under pressure 

  • Likes a fast pace life 

  • A good level of physical fitness

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a professional team

  • Highly responsible and reliable

  • Accept flexible working hours – rostered shifts

  • Able to work at weekends and public holidays

  • Great people skills both with fellow workmates and customers

  • Honest, trustworthy & well presented
