Wages: $28.00-$35.00 per hour

Guangxiang Foods is operated under Hub Pakuranga Limited manufacture Chinese pastries, including Buns, Dumplings and Wontons, etc. We are looking for a Pastrycook to join us.

The Pastrycook is responsible for producing Chinese-style steamed buns, mantou, flower rolls, and related dough products in a mass-production factory environment. The role includes dough preparation, shaping, steaming, quality control, and supervision of critical production steps. The Pastrycook also develops, modifies, and standardizes filling recipes based on customer orders and production requirements.

Skill and qualification required

  • At least 12 months food preparation experience in New Zealand

  • Strong understanding of filling recipes and preparation.

  • Strong understanding dough requirements for Chinese-style buns.

  • Commitment to food safety and consistent product quality.

  • Able to work on flexible hours, including weekends

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design filling recipes based on customer orders and market needs.

  • Improve existing fillings for taste, texture, moisture balance, and stability in mass production.

  • Conduct trial batches and convert successful formulas into standardized production recipes.

  • Mix, knead, rest, and proof dough to achieve required texture and fermentation levels.

  • Adjust dough conditions based on batch performance and production requirements.

  • Set and monitor steaming temperature, humidity, and timing, check product appearance, texture, and fermentation results to ensure quality consistency

  • Train factory workers in standardized production procedures and hygiene practices

  • Maintain hygiene of equipment, tools, and work areas.
