Position Details:

Job Location: Otago, Queenstown

Type: Permanent, Full time 

Days required: Rotating roster, including weekends & public holidays

Hours per week: 30 to 35 hours per week

Hourly Pay: $30-$35per hour 

We are a busy hospitality business in Otago committed to delivering high-quality food and excellent customer service. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare high-quality meals in accordance with menu specifications.

  • Prepare, season and cook food to consistently high standards.

  • Develop and assist with menu planning and new dishes.

  • Monitor food quality, presentation and portion control.

  • Estimate food requirements and minimise wastage.

  • Supervise kitchen operations during service.

  • Maintain food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.

  • Inspect food supplies and ensure quality and freshness.

  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory control.

  • Train and supervise kitchen staff where required.

  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Food Control Plan requirements.

  • Work collaboratively with the management team to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

Skills Required:

  • At least 3 years of experience in the industry OR  NZQA Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in cookery/culinary arts

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.

  • Be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.

  • Be reliable, organised and able to work flexible rostered hours.

  • Have excellent teamwork and communication skills.
