Gana Limited, trading as Eat On Windsor, is an established and beloved café in Invercargill. With years of successful operation, we are renowned among our loyal customers for having some of the best food in the hospitality sector.

 

To build on our current success, we are excited to announce the expansion of our operations with two new restaurants. As a result, we are looking for five full-time, permanent chefs to join our team, helping to fill roles in our new venues as well as supplementing our existing kitchen staff.

 

Skills and Experience Required:

 

- A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a commercial kitchen, OR

- A Diploma Level 5 (or equivalent overseas qualification) in Cookery, OR a bachelor’s degree.

 

Job Duties:

·       Planning menu items, participating in the organisation of ordering, cost controlling and wastage of food

·       Preparing and cooking foods of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions

·       Checking and monitoring the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met

·       Determining how food should be presented, and creating decorative food displays

·       Demonstrating new cooking techniques and equipment to staff

·       Estimating amounts and costs of required supplies, such as food and ingredients

·       Implementing and following strict rules of personal hygiene and ensure machinery is operated, cleaned and stored correctly; kitchen drawers and shelves are cleaned and tidy

·       Complying with all Company Policies and legal requirements with special reference to Health and Safety to ensure all procedures: Health and Safety, and Food Safety Management are maintained to the required standards

·       Participating in selecting and training new/current kitchen staff whenever it is required
