We're looking for someone who brings energy, professionalism and a positive attitude to the kitchen. You'll work closely with our management team to maintain high culinary standards, contribute to seasonal menu development, and help drive the continued success of one of Clyde's favourite hospitality venues.This is an excellent opportunity for someone confident working under pressure, able to prioritise during busy service periods, and committed to delivering an outstanding dining experience for every guest.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and cooking high-quality meals to order.
  • Ensuring food is prepared, stored and handled in accordance with New Zealand Food Control Plan requirements.
  • Maintaining excellent food presentation, consistency and portion control.
  • Following all Health & Safety procedures and kitchen operating standards.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment.
  • Assisting with seasonal menu planning, daily specials and function menus.
  • Ordering stock and managing food costs within budget.
  • Receiving deliveries and maintaining accurate stock rotation and inventory control.
  • Supervising and supporting junior kitchen staff during service.
  • Working closely with the Front of House team to ensure excellent guest experiences.
  • Assisting with maintaining compliance for food safety audits and kitchen procedures.
  • Contributing to a positive, professional and collaborative workplace culture.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience as a Chef in a busy restaurant, bar or hospitality venue. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards.
  • The ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring kitchen staff.
  • A genuine passion for quality food and hospitality.
  • A positive attitude and strong communication skills.
  • A commitment to delivering consistently high standards.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.

Experience with stock control, ordering and menu costing will be highly regarded.
