This Cook role would suit someone who is interested in growing their career and developing within our business. The role is guaranteed of a minimum of 30 hour per week, with an hourly rate of $25 to $30 for the right candidate.
Key tasks of role include:
• Plan and develop menu items, including main dishes, specialty items, and complementary side dishes.
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes using appropriate culinary techniques and established recipes.
• Develop and standardise recipes, sauces, marinades, and seasoning blends to ensure consistency in flavour and presentation.
• Supervise kitchen staff involved in food preparation, cooking, and plating of dishes.
• Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation to ensure they meet the establishment’s standards for taste, texture, and presentation.
• Estimate food costs, monitor portion control, and order ingredients and kitchen supplies as required.
• Manage food inventory, stock rotation, and storage to maintain product quality and minimise waste.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations in the kitchen.
• Train and guide kitchen staff on food preparation techniques, cooking procedures, and safe kitchen practices.
• Coordinate kitchen workflow to ensure meals are prepared efficiently and delivered on time during service periods.
• Create and introduce new menu items and specials based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
• Oversee the maintenance and safe operation of kitchen equipment and ensure proper cleaning and storage procedures.
Ideal candidates are expected to have the followings but not limited to:
• Holding a Cookery qualification certificate at Level 4 or higher
• Or Have relevant work experience for 2 years or more
• Flexible availability as the position requires night shift and weekends
• Positive attitude to work as a team player
