The Bannockburn Hotel is an iconic country pub set in Bannockburn, Central Otago steeped in history dating back to 1862.
Key responsibilties include but are not limited to:
You will be responsible for overseeing all sections of the kitchen, ensuring that dishes are prepared according to the restaurant's high standards. You will collaborate with the sous chef and head chef to create and execute menu items, maintain inventory levels, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
Food Preparation and Cooking:
Prepare and cook dishes according to the menu specifications.
Ensure consistency and high standards of food quality and presentation.
Assist in developing new dishes and menu items under the guidance of the sous chef or head chef.
Inventory and Stock Control:
Monitor stock levels for your section and communicate needs to the sous chef or purchasing manager.
Ensure proper storage and rotation of food products to minimize waste.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment following food safety standards.
Adhere to health and safety regulations and guidelines.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the chefs to plan menus, specials, and promotions.
Coordinate with other departments (e.g., service staff) to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction.
Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or line cook in a similar environment.
Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Attention to detail and creativity in food presentation.
Duties & Responsibilities
Work with the head chef/sous chef to produce menus in accordance with the restaurant’s policy and vision
Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients
Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance
Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours
Work with team mates to help develop new dishes which appeal to clients
Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers
Requirements:
2 years of experience working in a commercial kitchen. Preferably 2 years’ experience as a CDP
Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions
Familiar with industry’s best practice
