Chinese Cuisine Chef

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook food using appropriate cooking techniques to deliver dishes to the restaurant’s required standard.
• Menu planning and develop recipes according to seasonal ingredients and customer demand.
• Portion food and prepare dishes for serving on plates or in takeaway containers, including adding gravies and sauces as required.
• Maintain a high standard of food quality and ensure meals are presented to customers in a timely manner.
• Checking food stock levels and placing orders with suppliers.
• Guide and supervise junior kitchen staff in cooking procedures by sharing your cooking knowledge and experience when required.
• Prepare dietary meals according to customers’ special requirements.
• Keep the kitchen clean and tidy and ensure compliance with New Zealand health and hygiene regulations.
• Monitor the temperatures of frozen and hot food and ensure all food is stored at the correct temperatures.

To be successful in this role, you need:

• 2 years relevant experience OR a level 4 or above relevant qualification. 
• Be reliable, responsible and able to work well under pressure.
• Be flexible with working hours, including weekends when required.
• Be adaptable, safety-conscious and able to work well as part of a team.
