Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and cook dishes from our menu, including fish and chips, stir-fried dishes and other seafood meals.
• Prepare and portion sashimi and fresh seafood items in accordance with food safety requirements.
• Check seafood and other ingredients to ensure freshness, quality and suitability for use.
• Operate and regulate the temperature of fryers, woks, grills, steamers and other kitchen equipment.
• Season, portion, plate and present dishes consistently.
• Prepare meals according to customer dietary requirements where required.
• Store seafood and other ingredients in temperature-controlled facilities and follow proper stock-rotation procedures.
• Monitor ingredient levels and assist with estimating daily food requirements and ordering supplies.
• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and food-preparation area.
• Work closely with other kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure orders are prepared accurately and on time.
• Assist with menu improvements and train junior kitchen staff when required.

Requirements

• A relevant cookery qualification at NZQCF Level 4 or higher, or at least one year of relevant experience.
• Experience preparing seafood, sashimi, fish and chips or Asian-style dishes is preferred.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene, safe seafood handling and temperature control.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen and maintain consistent food quality.
• Reliable, organised and able to work well as part of a team.
• Available to work rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
