Monkey Farm are seeking 2 experienced Chef de Partie’s to join the kitchen team at our busy Wanaka establishment on a full time basis.

The positions are a minimum of 30 hours, up to 45 hours hours per week. Working in a collaborative kitchen environment to deliver high quality dishes across breakfast, lunch and dinner, and to support the Head Chef in supervising the kitchen team.

Key responsibilities include;

  • To prepare and cook dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu
  • Assist in the design and development of the menu - seasonal and contemporary focused
  • Create menus in consultation with Head Chef
  • Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen when on shift
  • Ensure the high quality of the dishes prepared, throughout all stages of food preparation and presentation
  • Assist managing and training kitchen staff, demonstrating food preparation techniques, including food control plans and hygiene compliance requirements
  • Discuss any food safety or preparation issues with head chef immediately and advise kitchen staff on protocols
  • Maintain compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations standards in all food preparation areas
  • Ensure all equipment and work environments are operated in a safe manner
  • Assist with ordering of food supplies and non-food supplies and costings
  • Ensure all food items are stored correctly including refridgeration, freezing temperatures
  • Manage inventory levels, stock rotations and labeling
  • Complete the food preparation list for the next day on required shift

Skills and Experience;

  • A positive and enthusiastic manner
  • Excellent skills in cookery techniques and ability to execute them under pressure
  • Ability to delegate and communicate effectively in a team environment
  • Able to work rostered shift work - Monday to Sunday between the hours of 8am - 10pm
  • Must have 2 or more years relevant experience (3 years relevant work experience is desirable) OR a certiifcate in professional cookery Level 4
